I want to head out to a lake by me. There are a ton of small and large mouth bass. I know you can use nymphs on a river.. but can they also be used on a lake with little to no current? If so how? Do you need sinking line? I have WF tapered floating line. Would like to use the setup I just got to practice a little. I also have dry flies.. Is that what I should use? Give me some help.. please

I've only done it one way so take it for what it's worth... Since you're already spooled with a floating line, use Deer Hair Poppers. I've caught three Bass on a 'Frog ' pattern from Umpqua Feather Merchants. Also took a Bass on a brown 'Mouse' pattern and another on a black, yellow, and red deer hair popper.

Hang on because you may get a Pike to take a slash at you on that. I did once and my knees still haven't quit shaking.

Cool.. I'll go buy some of them. I have a 4X 9' trapered leaders (6# test). Will that be OK or do I need something smaller?

BTW I have a ton of grasshopper deals. Should I try them? They were recommended in Utah.. but not sure if that applies here..

Poppers are fun...simple too...
You could w/float line try say 12-18ft taper leader and or with couple or 3 ft tip ..Depending on how deep super small slit shot up the leader with some nymph's or streamer..
Might want to put a small marshmallow float where leader ties to float line..

Flip it out there let it sink pull line in say every two foot...kinda like jiggin.

Oh..Pike on fly rod...Guaranteed to piss your pants at the strike!!!

Only thing I hate about flat water is the fucken Skiders!!!!

Also all pan fish will hit on dry flies like mad...just look around see what is hatching.
