What do I need to do? Are the push rods different too? and lastly, why SO much more $$$$$ than roller setup for a roller block? I am so confused:)
Thanks

I guess maybe that I don't understand. The cams for either block from me are the SAME. I would certainly hope that when you install a new camshaft that you measure for pushrods. Whether the PR is 6.500" long or 7.500" long as long as its 5/16 .080" the price is the SAME. The ONLY area I could see that would you get you into trouble is the lifters. The link-bar style lifter is what is required to do an early model block properly. That lifter is WAY better vs a OEM lifter. Now that lifter is 4 times the money. So yes that cost more. But the cam & the PR are the same.
Am I missing something? Did I answer your question?

Yep, you answered my question. I was wondering about why the roller lifters for a gen 1 block are different and what I needed to look for and why THEY were so much more than roller lifter setups for a newer SBC block.
While I'm here and have your attention, and not to sound too stupid, could you clue me in on the pushrod measuring? I "assumed" I'd just get new ones that were stock length or what ever the salesman told me I needed(I know, Bad idea). When i install the cam how do I measure for pushrod length?
And finally, If i email you or phone you with my setup and goals would you consider the possibility of selling me a cam that would suit my needs?

Visit my site and complete a Build Sheet. I'll do whatever I can do.
On measuring for PR. Yes it needs to be done. No, listening to a tech guy will get you into trouble. If & when the time com es, I'll be more than glad to assist you in the measuring of PR length.
