Hi Jim
welcome to the yellow board
I have a stage 2 6-71 10% underdriven on A 440 HORSE 350 sbc I recently changed the carb to a pro-systems 800 and have the MSD-6-btm ignition with water /methanol injection the rest of the engine is Edelbrock Performer Rpm, Boost is around #5 whats your estimate of horsepower I should expect before using Juice , the pro-racing sim software I have says
570@6000 with548ft/lbs@4000

Usually 8" converters are less efficient and have more slippage. I don't think they are surprised it is a 3800 converter, given your combo, I think what surprises them is that it's an 8". I'd run a 10" converter with around a 4000 stall.... IMHO.

10 inch 4000 converter will have more slip than an 8 inch 4000
