getting a little closer....the TB hat was a killer.1 x 8" x 6" billet all machined out.The centre is a seperate piece(just needs radiusing into the throttle bores),bolted into the TB with a 1/2 unc stud.It is sealed on the top and bottom of the hat with "o" rings...gotta have 30hrs of work in that combo...
top intercooler tank is difficult so pics later in the week.....btw,top tank is taped so as not to scratch it..

Have you run that fuel rail setup or is that a new addition? What size are those injectors? Everything looks sweet. Are you running alcohol or something?
Cuz aren't 8-160 lb injectors good to like 2300 hp with gas and a bsfc of about 0.55?
redvictor

i haven't run the fuel rail yet as it was carburettored before.injectors are 150# per hr.
Maybe i wont need 2 sets at the moment as i'm running 93 pump gas.but my calculations for 572ci with 2 x 88mm's said 8 x150#lb injectors were only good for 1700hp....
didn't want to risk not having enough fuel, coz it would be sooo hard to machine the intake afterwards...
thanks for the interest... 8)

Well turbo/blower cars are usually right around 0.55 bsfc, and using that you get.
150lb/hr x 8 injectors = 1200 lb/hr for the total motor.
Now bsfc is 0.55 (lb/hr)/hp so you divide the 1200 (lb/hr) by the 0.55(lb/hr)/hp and get 2180 hp worth of fuel. Figure you don't want to run over 90% duty cycle and you are at 1960hp.
Actually, you'd be safe to around 40% max more than that since you can run higher pressures than the injectors are rated at and the injector will become as follows:
Flow 2 = [sq root (Pressure 1 / Pressure 2)] * Flow 1
That means doubling the rated pressure will increase the flow rate by about 40% since sq. rt(2) = 1.41...
So say they are rated at 50 psi and you increase the pressure to 70 psi. You can then safely support sq(70/50) = 1.18 X 1960 HP (90% duty cycle number) and you'd be good to over 2300 hp. Most injectors are safe up to at least 5 bar, or 73.5 psi.
Of course, the higher pressure might move your fuel pump into a lower flowrate so you'd want to check the flow vs pressure curve of the pump to make sure it can support the volume you are seeking.

thanks for the maths...i only want to run the injectors at 75% duty cycle and i'd rather keep the pressure on the lower side due to the flow requirements of the pumps(aeromotive eliminators x2)at high pressure.....this is a case of more is good, just incase, because imo you can never have too much fuel capacity.... :-D

Not a problem I'm sure it'll work out great plus it's got the 'cool 'factor with the 16 injectors.

You guys over the pond have a slightly crazy view of what a pump-gas street car should be like...but I love it! That's awesome!

Thanks dude, appreciate that.....got any more pics of your install? it looks sweet to me....did Steve map the TEC in for you?...yea,valve covers were the only place i could think of,although the plug leads are odd with 2 of them across the back of the engine

That is the only pic I have of the car.... I will post some when I get it back together.... No, Steve hasn't really tuned the car, yet....We are changing our set-up....bigger turbo...real engine, that will handle boost...chassis updates and a much need paint job.

How did that go?
sweet..2000hp dyno couldn't hold the motor under 6000rpm...only figure we got was 1600hp and 1330# at 6200.It needs way more cam and exhaust housing but it's got plenty for now while i learn how to get it to the track...Electromotive worked great.Steve did a great job....

kinda off topic, but w/o swapping it, how do you know it needs more cam & Im guessing your saying the exh housing is too small?

Thing is choking at over 6200.It's using all of the 300# of injectors per runner also but not making 2600hp... we tried to go over 25 # of boost and it lost HP. It's a calculated guess that it's the cam,i've left a question for Jay in the cam section.Ex housing we'll find out at the track when Holset come down to measure ex back pressure....
Still have plenty for MT sportsmans though...lol

Right on Andy. thats interesting for sure. what were your O2's * EGT's?
that things gonna rock. are you using the AMS boost controller?

bob
EGT's weren't measured due to not having provisions for sensors on my headers...
Lambda was .085 to .080 throughout.A little rich but safe to start.
Boost controller is an MSD unit that i'm going to use with Co2 on the top side...
I think the big problem i'm going to have is hooking it all...

Right on. the guy I bought my IC from uses that MSD unit & said that he loved it. right out of the box it worked well for him.
& yea, I would agree, putting it down is gonna be the hard part for you. I wonder if a change over to Radials might not help? there are folks going CRAZY fast on them now.

i'd change to radials if it didn't mean changing the axle, bodywork etc....
they allow them up to 315 in street eliminator now...glad to hear that someone likes the MSD unit...
i left a question about it on the MSD forum and got no reply at all....great service...NOT....

Bummer. it sucks when you get crappy service. too many companies feel that selling a product is the end of thier responsibility. Its frustrating, when your someone that goes WAY beyond in terms of service.

Hey Andy, the guy I bought my IC from ran that boost controller. he said that the instructions sucked but that once they figured it out it worked great for him. you might want to try posting over on the Trubo Rustang site in the GM area & see if he cant help out. his screen name is "raceme9's".
