Cecil County

Since April of 1963, Cecil County Dragway has been home to some of the finest drag racing in the North East. The facility has opened its gates to many racers including drag racing legends Don Garlits, Don Prudhomme, and Bill Jenkins.

For well over 40 years the landscape and atmosphere has virtually remained the same. Many will reminisce about the house that once bordered the grounds with the infamous tree house that overlooked the quarter mile. Last year, the house and its respective property were cleared to create new parking areas. In the process of clearing trees and fences, a gem was revealed in the form of a pond that accentuates the overall atmosphere of the facility.

Last week the view became even more extraordinary with the removal of additional trees and hedges. New fence was also put in place, and the main entrance was widened by approximately five feet with the removal of the hedgerow.

In addition to improving the overall appearance of the surrounding area, the metal guardrails that once served as the barriers in the shutdown were replaced by 12-foot sections of concrete walls. The addition of these walls not only improve the appearance of the racing surface itself, but it also serves as a dramatic safety improvement that has already had many racers expressing their gratitude.

Lastly, Cecil County has made an advancement into the future with the addition of wireless cable internet. The internet service provider has been working to install the service and it should be operational very soon. With this addition, racers will be able to access the internet from the facility, and it will allow live feeds to be broadcasted over the internet.

Stay tuned for more information and updates. For additional information on location, schedules, and contact information please visit www.cecilcountydraway.com (http://www.cecilcountydraway.com)

Don't forget about the little guys, and your track will always prosper... regardless of improvements.

I'm sure if you look at the names and addresses on some of the tech cards, you will see that many of us drive right past Maple Grove to get to your place.

The improvements look great, but continue running the place like you have been the last bunch of years... and we'll keep coming back. :supz:

The improvements are just a bonus... at a track that's already one of the best.

Looks like you guys have been busy since my last trip out there, getting rid of that hedge row on gate 1 will help getting some of us with bigger trailers around that corner without going in blindly and blocking traffic... I may run down there for some T&T time tonight, if the weather holds out, to check out the changes...

Is the wireless throughout the entire park or only specific areas?
