i'm wanting to ditch the power steering in my 74 camaro and put manual steering in it. its all stock front end also.
i've heard stuff about s10 manual steering but i know nothing about it.
what would work for my car? and how much(if any) smaller is it then power steering?

thanks a lot

Certain years of s10's work and all Vega manual boxes work which is what I used. Check Ebay there are usually a few on there going for $75-$125.

I have one that I just took off my Cutlass. I put a rack and pinion on it. It's in good shape, I believe it came off an early 70's chevelle. It bolted right up to my 82 Olds. I'll include the pitman arm. It may or may not work for your application. 100.00 plus shipping

Thanks,
jason

It won't work, needs to be the S10 or Vega box.

Should work, same as an S10 box. A vega box is smaller. Bolts to the frame with 3 bolts. I know an S10 box will work on a G body. So this should work. I believe it is a Saginaw box. I'll get a Pic for you if you like.

I'll look for the info on the 2nd gen site later but the problem isn't the box it's the pitman arm and I believe where it connects to the steering shaft.

I've already done mine with a Vega box and it fit perfect but I know from reading the posts on the 2nd gen site over time that alot of boxes that fit the frame don't work with the pitman arm. I would suggest he do a search or post the question here http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/index.php and he will get the info he is looking for.

Pooch's may work but I'd almost bet he'd have to get a different pitman arm for it.

I'll buy that. I'm not sure where my pitman arm came from. I think I took it off the power box and it worked. This was back in 94 so I have forgotten a bunch since then. Since the pitman arm probably won't work. 75.00 then. :-D
