Again I am very excited about being here at YellowBullet.com!!!

My name is Jay Allen. I own and operate CAMSHAFT INNOVATIONS. I do CNC camshafts for all applications. Street, strip, road race, circle track, marine, truck pulling, tractor pulling, I have done a camshaft for almost everything, I think!?!?!?

When I do a camshaft for a given application, it takes me about 2 to 3 HOURS to complete the process. I am VERY thorough. I try to be as exact as possible with the information supplied by the customer. I put as much effort into the camshaft as I possbly can attempting to give the end user the highest quality camshaft possible.

One of the things I try to stay away from is just blurting out camshaft specs. I see this as a bad thing. It truely underminds what I do and it does a disservice to the customer. Some people get upset when I do not just hand over cam specs. Well just for a second imagine I did. They went to cam company *A* and attempted to get those specs ground. They get something they feel is close. When in reality it probably isn't. The camshaft is installed and the results are not satisfactory. I then get blamed. Whether it is my fault or not. The old analogy "You get what you paid for" is applicable here.

Thus, before you post, if you have a custom engine, then more than likely a TRUE custom camshaft is what you need. If you have your basic 12 second or 13 second car and a catolog camshaft will do the trick, I will make every attempt to answer those questions fully.

If you are having valve train problems, camshaft problems, spring questions, camshaft theory ideas, or just your own question(s) about an idea you have, then PLEASE go ahead and post. Or, even if it is a question you are unsure about, post it.

Together, we'll get everything sorted out.

Thanks.

Very cool post there, Jay. I know from experience that camshaft A, B and C can be ground to the same specs but all 3 perform a little different. Some kill springs and others do not perform as well. I was told that each company who grinds uses their own ramp angles? Is that right? I can see that the information you provide can be very sensitive. We really appreciate you being here to help with our questions and offer us your camshafts and service.

That's right Monty.

You can have (2) camshafts the same at .006, .020, and .050. Have the same lobe lift, yet act totally different because of what happens past that.

See and some cam companies said I was high for thinking their cam acted differently than the last one..

Monty high? Tell me it isn't so. :P

Jay is a great person to deal with. Especially after all of the crap I put him through. Thanks again Jay. He talks to everyone like they are his only customer. Try to get that kind of service from one of the other camshaft designers/makers.
