what is all needed to run 9 sec 1/4? i have a cage already
sorry i don't know how to post pics so i'll try to explain what i have
two front bars (come off halo) with the door bars(no x door bars).
cross bar behind the driver seat.
the loop bars and two little ones coming off that(with the cross bar going behind seat) .
the 2 bars going into trunk
and 2 bars that cross and go almost into trunk.

its a balk half car.

do i need a bar going across the front where my knees would be?
what about bars going into the engine compartment?
i know i should just get a book but i'm trying to figure it out SOON.
and what about running an 8?

thanks a lot and i hope its not too confusing.

to run up to 8.50 is your STD 10 point

2 point main hoop behind seat w/cross bar
2 points that run from were main hoop and cross bar intersect to floor or driveshaft tunnel
2 point to the rear in trunk/hatch etc from top of main hoop
2 point from door bars (non x brace is ok)
2 points from halo bar to floor.

Good things to add would be a dash bar in front of knees like you said but not required to run 8.50

If your starting all over from scratch may want to think about what the future has in store and build around that.

sweet so i SHOULD be ok. i'm not starting over it costs too much ha ha.

so do you count where the door bars go and connect where the front down bars go as 2 pts each? i've just counted it as 1. cause you say thats a 10 and i have all those plus a x bar in the rear also

thanks

Yes door bars count as 2 points just as well as the down bars coming from halo to floor

I will add a question here.

Basically my car is a full chassis that had a 240z body set over the top of it. (sheetmetal firewall and floor.) BUT it only has a driverside door bar???? is this legal. It was certified right before i picked it up to 8.50. is this a legit certification?

Stony, if you get in contact with stu over at Mountian Home, he may be able to steer you in the right direction. Give me a shout if you need his #, or check global. Or get the SFI book...
