When will the hate stop? Why is Sudan not a target of world peace? Do they have nothing to offer the world? Sad to see 2 million killed and not one person will stand behind this country to stop the violance. What is your take on this?

Below is an article taken from the Amnesty International website.

The perpetrators of the worst crimes in Sudan, including Darfur, must be prosecuted to ensure lasting peace.

‘We cannot have peace of mind if we do not know what happened to our husbands and brothers’, exclaimed the wife of a man who “disappeared” in Sudan to Amnesty International.

Despite 21 years of conflicts, more than 2 million dead, 6 million forced to flee their homes, thousands of women and children abducted and/or raped and hundreds of villages destroyed and relatives still missing, not one perpetrator of war crimes or crimes against humanity is known to have been brought to justice in Sudan.

The Sudanese people therefore need the help of the international community. The UN Security Council must refer the situation in the Sudan to the International Criminal Court and support a comprehensive reform of the Sudanese justice system, to ensure that those responsible for the worst crimes in Sudan are held accountable.

A peace agreement to end the conflict in South Sudan was signed in January 2005, but in Darfur, West Sudan, conflict still rages and civilians continue to be killed and forced to leave their villages. International action to address the persistent failure of the Sudanese authorities to bring to justice those responsible for the atrocities in southern, western, northern or eastern Sudan, will help to end the cycle of conflict.

Sudan refused to surrender suspected Darfur war criminals to the International Criminal Court for trial as demanded by the UN Security Council.

Is this pattern not familiar????? PUUUUULLLLLEEEEEEAAASE!!! I have seen more teeth in the new born nursery ward at the local hospital.

Resolution 1593 was passed by the Security Council by a 11-0 majority with four abstentions, overrode strong opposition from Sudan to impose international trials for the 51 suspects identified by the UN commission. Resolution 1593 demands prosecution in the Hague of 51 named suspects, including senior officials, a violation of its sovereignty, the Khartoum regime insisted its own courts were competent to try them.

The Sudanese Government Information Minister Abdel Basit Sabdarat said the government would launch "an extensive diplomatic campaign" to explain its defiance of the world body.

U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan praised the passage of the resolution as lifting "the veil of impunity that has allowed human rights crimes in Darfur to continue unchecked." (but of course helps take the attention off of him and internal issues at the UN and their recent delusions of success.)

Is this not the same "international alliances" that Kerry was talking about formulating to help us in our foreign policy and efforts?
