Hey all,
I'm currently running a 101mm turbo 23 degree headed alky small block chevy setup. I'm looking to step up and wondered what all your thoughts were on the best cylinder head available for making 2000+HP from a turbocharged small block chevy???

Also, to make the HP that I'm chasing would I be better off going to a 106mm or twin 88mm turbos?? or will the 101mm do? if not, will/would the twin 88's spool as quickly as the 106?

CFE has the new SBX head too that's symmetrical exhaust. Other options will be the old pro-stock truck canted valve heads.

Haddad manages a fair bit more from out of the box 23 deg AFR heads, alky and turbos with alot less potential (GT35Rs). How much power is the combination making currently? Should be good for a lot more than mid 9's in a mid sized car.

Steve Morris just made 2101 with a 509 and a pair of 80mm turbos with a c&s 900cfm carb............

Get a head that is a heavy casting. Curtis has one that would work great out of the box called his 18 deg Monster at a very good price.

That is Cboggs a contributing member here at YB. He also is direct with Dart, Edlebrock and Brodix as a WD.

Hes asking about a small block.

I think he was pointing out the ability of the turbos moreso than the BBC.

Wow, why don't you try getting your facts right first........ Firstly this post is 2 years old. Secondly this question was posted by my brother as I wouldn't tell him at the time what my new combination was going to be so he figured he'd narrow down the option lol. Thirdly the car that ONLY ran a 9.6 @ 145mph is a mate of mine who was ONLY on his first pass in a brand new blow through carby car which was ONLY on 10psi boost in ONLY a 3640lb car with ONLY a standard leaf spring suspension and ONLY a 28 x 9 tire. He has since decided to change his fuel system etc (he's changed to injection on alky etc etc) to what my own personal old car/setup was back 4 years ago which made great power and destroyed anything in Modified Street, he will be coming out in January 08 and is looking forward to hopefully running an 8.

Thanks to those who responded, I agree those are all great cylinder heads companies.

I guess since the APSA bitching board is closed people are going elsewhere to ruffle feathers?

how could you smash everybody in modified street blown when the rules say you can only run a 88 mm and you had 101mm?

psiV8

Because you'll find that rule didn't exist back then until I ran a number which was quickly followed by the 88mm rule. It's all good though mate, I guess that's life. At the end of the day I built that car to do something different and had a lot of fun doing it. I still have that combo sitting there (including a 88mm) if once I've finished having some fun bracket racing I can stir things up again, but for the mean time I'm enjoying helping out some others and building a new turbo project :)

What the.... I wasn't the one who dragged out a 2 year old post and started to stir shit on their very first post. It's funny because APSA and Fabz would ask for and value my input in to debatable topics as they themselves deemed them professional. However I wonder why I bothered commenting for them at all when this sort of crap surfaces, I guess you can't please them all.

As for searching for a new board to so call stir shit, check our join up dates and check the number of posts against us.

Come on guys, this is an information forum.... not a bitch fest. Stay on the topic.

The best performing head would have to be out of the GM symetrical of the BD2000 - but the other thing you need to consider is how durable are these heads on a high HP turbo engine.

So just picking the best perfoming head isnt the key for a turbo engine, but the thickness in the deck, the material around the ports, as no doubt - youll be seeing 35-45 psi of pressure in the intake port...

You should talk to Curtis about the Moster 18* head as that has a real thick deck, and not too bad casting thickeness around the ports, and flow real nice too.

Or, just get his latest SB2.2 port that he did that flow inredible nubers down low and still compare to the splayed head (430's @800???) The sb2.2 casting is real nice and has a consistant amount of material....

Another thing is as its turbo, you can get real high rocker ratios with the SB2's fairly easy - which will make the cam selection/issue to keep the cam numbers in the right spread much much easier...

Just my 20 cents worth...

Pete.
