A BIG thanks to E town Staff and Keith from finelines, i know they have worked hard at getting everything right for the class this year, I AM SO HAPPY that i finally get to race Heads up at my HOME track,) I have raced at E town since 1980) I felt a little bad to drive by E town all these years to race 10.0 and 8.50 at Atco and Cecil, NOW i am proud to call E town My HOME TRACK AGAIN......Thanks WP and staff, to say im excited about the 8.50 at E town is an Understatement......

Also Again A BIG THANKS to YB for putting up these sections, ESPECIALLY for E town, as i feel they have been missing out becasue they have never had a site or page for themselves, GDR was a lot of Atco/Cecil racers..

Here is some information that should help you guys!

8.50 Index Promises Wheels Up Action

The high flying 8.50 Index cars will make its Raceway Park debut in 2008. Small tires and big horsepower promise to keep these descendents of the early years of Top Street alive and well. The racers can only race with 10.5 tires but often propel their front ends to the sky with long high wheelstands. Many things are in the works for this class including sponsorships and payout. The rules (as seen below) will mimmick our neighbors to the south. The dates are 4/11, 5/9, 5/23, 6/13, 8/8, 8/22, 9/19, 10/3-in conjunction with the Shakedown at E-town-and 10/24. All of these events will be on Friday evenings. The gates open at 5pm with time trials and qualifying kicking off shortly after 6pm. 8.50 index heads–up rules

To qualify for the 8.50 Index race, you must be 9.00 seconds or quicker. In order to expand eliminator to 16 cars in the 1st round, qualifying field must be 9.00 or quicker for all cars. Anyone that exceeds, in what is acceptable by NHRA standards, for the E.T. or MPH for the class they are racing will be banned from the class and possibly suspended. (8) Eight or (16) Sixteen car qualified race field. Sportsman ladder. (Race Director has option to expand qualified field) Race Drivers who are broke must notify the tower as soon as qualifying is completed.
1. .4 PRO TREE, HEADS UP, NO BREAKOUT, in effect Quickest ET gets lane choice (NO DEEP STAGING)
2. MUFFLERS REQUIRED-Two chambered mufflers required
3. Maximum tire 10.5” (example:w33.0/10.5-15W.)
All cars running 11.99 and quicker must have metal, screw-in valve stems
4. Any race fuel permitted
5. Minimum vehicle weight 2800.lbs
6. Auto-Start set at “10” seconds for timeout, activated during qualifying and eliminations.
BODY/INTERIOR
· FULL-BODIED FACTORY REAR WHEEL DRIVE STREET TYPE CARS.
· A ribbon-type window net SFI Spec 27.1 is mandatory on Full bodied cars that are required to have a Roll Cage.
· Must be street appearing No Gutted Interiors, Carpeted Interior even if rear seat is removed.
· Must have door panels. (The interior should look clean and professionally done)
· RACECAR LETTERING ON WINDOWS ONLY. Sponsor logos permitted.
· Height on hood scoop to be a maximum 9 inches.
· NO One-piece fiberglass front ends.
· Back half or STOCK SUSPENSION, PERMITTED
· WINDOWS, LEXAN PERMITTED. Roll down windows optional
7. Must have Stock style front suspension
· NO FULL ROUND or SQUARE TUBE CHASSIS CARS
· On board FIRE Extinguisher is permitted and recommended.
ELECTRONICS
8. Bracket Racing Aids: NO Throttle stops No Electric shifters Optical sensors. NO DELAY BOXES OR OTHER DRIVER AIDED ELECTRONICS. The application or use of any device, mechanical or electronic, that permit the driver to ascertain the position of their vehicle in relation to the starting line is prohibited.
· Progressive Nitrous controller system permitted.

ENGINE/TRANSMISSION
10. Trans Shield meeting SFI Spec. 4.1 Mandatory in all cars running quicker than 10.99 or 135 mph
OIL RETENTION DEVICE (Diaper) Mandatory for all cars running 9.99 & quicker for Jan 1, 2008
11. OEM or aftermarket transmissions with a maximum of 5 forward speeds permitted, including "clutchless" models. Any gear change must occur from direct action by the driver. Pneumatic, Electric, Hydraulic Shifters prohibited Clutch release devices prohibited. Trans brakes and 2-steps allowed.
12. Also Jacket, Pants, Gloves, Neck Collar - Mandatory in all cars running 135 mph or faster.
13. NOS PERMITTED AS WELL AS OTHER POWER ADDERS.
14. NO DRAGSTERS

IF you are caught cheating, you will be banned and NHRA will be notified
(NHRA and VALID STATE DRIVERS LICENSE along with CHASSIS Certification)
Note: No car will be allowed to go faster than the Chassis is certified for by NHRA.
