Hello Hutch....got a question for you...I see the transbrake valvebodies forsale everywhere....and i wonder, can you modify a Valvebody for use with Transbrake, instead of buying it?
I have a practically new TCI Reverse manual Valvebody in my TH400....any way of adding a solenoid to it & maybe some little machining on the valvebody to convert it to a Transbrake Valvebody?
Easier said then done, or is there other things that are not allowing this to be done?

I suppose you could but you would need to replace the separator plate anyway, make a transbrake spool valve and spring ,get a set of direct clutch return springs and by the time you machined out what passages you need for a transbrake and plug off passages that are specific to reverse manual only you may spend more time than a new setup is worth.
There are so many variations of transbrake valve bodies that conversion instructions would be almost impossible to design.
Hope this helps ,Hutch

Im kinda partial to my own design but it is not one that is easy to install which makes it difficult to sell.
There are many designs that are made for easy installation and work well in average racing environments.
Griner,TCI,ATI,Coan,Hipster and many others make valvebody kits that will work well for you. The trans will need to be removed and disassembled completely to install a transbrake properly.
Take care ,Hutch

Ok Hutch thanks for the quick replies...
Transmission removal/disassembly is not a problem, a good friend of mine is the one who built it & we're looking to add the transbrake.
He is actually the one who told me to post about it, as we wanted to know just how hard it would be to install a transbrake in a non-transbrake reverse manual valvebody.
Can you tell me what your transbrake kit goes for $ wise, you can PM me if you want. I'm in Ottawa, Ont

MIke ,there's a lot of case modifications to make that take fixtures I made to complete the process. I also machine each transbrake spool valve to each case due to the variances in the cases webbing. I haven't found an easy way to make these without having the case at the same time.
Thanks for asking ,Hutch
