I just want to warn everyone that Pete Wheeler has/had several lawsuits against him for crappy engines or not delivering anything at all. He is much like a used car salesman, very smooth talker but has screwed everyone that has purchased an engine from him (minus one) that I know of. When I had my problems with him and posted them on another site, I had several people private message me abouth thier bad dealings with him. I bought a 582 big duke from him and was lied to several times during the build, took 5 weeks longer than it was suppose to and it didn't come with the vacuum pump or the heads that I was suppose to get. After finally getting the engine I took it to the track and on it's first 1/8th mile pass the car shook violently. Turned out it was just the flex plate that he forgot to torque (he said he personally did it). He was suppose to send me a new flex plate and even gave me a tracking number, it never showed up. I took the tranny out and found that the holes weren't oblonged, so I lock tighted them and went to the track again. On the first (second overall) pass it broke the oil pump pick up off, so I called and he wanted me to bring the engine back so he could check everything at no charge. Well after several weeks he finally called and the rings and bearrings were shot, this after only one 1/8th mile and one 1/4 mile passes. He said he would fix it and eat the labor if I paid for the parts, I agreed to this. When he was finished he called and said it would be $1800, he had an ad in National Dragster that he would rebuild any engine (new rings, bearrings, lifters, gaskets and everything) for $2200 that week, so I thought that $1800 was a bit much with him eating the labor. When I arrived to pick the engine up it still didn't have the vacuum pump on it (which we discussed when I dropped it off that I didn't get when I originally picked it up) and he said they were on back order. My wife wrote him a check (which he wasn't happy about, he wanted cash) and we pulled out of his driveway and called Moroso (he uses thier vacuum pumps) and asked about any back orders, they said they had plenty in stock and how many did we want. My wife called the bank and cancelled the check, boy was Pete pissed when he found out. So he ran around telling people how I screwed him, but he forgets about the fact that I didn't get the cnc'ed 1803 heads (I got 1802s out of the box) and didn't get my vacuum pump. By my estimates I paid more for the vacumm pump and acc than he did for the rings and bearrings, not to mention I didn't get the heads I was suppose to get, the flex plate (that 3 years later still hasn't shown up), the weeks I lost of racing because he didn't deliver on time and lies I had to deal with. So I ask, who was the bad guy in these dealings?
BTW the reason they had to pm me on DRR was because he sponsored that websites race series. Pete and Danny became butt-buddies and I was banned from the site (I just signed up under another name). I think DRR might be down for the count this time, as I have heard that since Danny's wife left him, he has been spending his money on booze and chasing woman instead of paying for his bandwidth or whatever websites do.
