Ok guys where does it get mounted on a ricer.
a) Between the MAF and turbo inlet on incoming air side or
b) Between the intercooler and the thottle body on the pressure side.
Trying to make a customer happy........

I have it mounted in the manifold plenum on my ricer. :-D

So your saying that it goes between the throttle body and the cyl head?
Or are you saying it doesn't matter?

I want air temp going into the maifold, after the intercooler, on mine. I stuck it in the throttle body elbow. The air temp sensor should measure the air that is going into the engine so place it in the easiest spot that will give you that reading.

Ok, so now I got to ask do they make one that is threaded, because the one that I have is some type of plastic that just slid into a rubber boot, nothing to hold it in under pressure.

Mine is threaded. I'm pretty sure it's a GM style. It came with my FAST unit. It looks like this one:

Jim,do you you have an issue with the temp sensor picking up the heat from the manifold itself?..i think the reason that factory units go in rubber bungs is because the air temp sensor picks up radiated heat...... i'm going to put mine in a plastic surround tapped into the manifold for that reason....

when I was doing a LOT of promming on my Super Ram I found out that where it was really did not matter (with quantification). If I was working with a certain profile & I moved it, it would mess with the tuneup on the motor. if I had started out with a brand new combination & was starting from scratch it did not matter where it was. the TEMP compensation was proportional so where you were was where you were. if the temp went up by X%, it would compensate by Y%. if it was 10% @ the air filter it was pretty darn close to 10% @ the Plenum (exspecially if you had the one in that picture that link that Monson put up that has the thermistor hanging in the open) its less suseptable to temp saturation than the enclosed one.
If you have other questions, about specifics I can try to dig up some old logs. in short when your moving a lot of air through that plenum the temp comes down in a HURRY (even though the car is not moving (burnout box)).

I don't correct for air temp so it doesn't really matter.

Bob,i have the exact same sensor as the link.The temp thing is puzzling...you say moving air through brings temps down.Is that for an air to water or air to air IC?
explaination please.....lol
Jim,doesn't the FAST have air temp correction? or is it that you can't be arsed to switch that function on?... :-D

I meant as seen by the ECM. when the car is just sitting there idling, its drawing in hot air off of the pavement & getting heat soaked. get into the water box & bring the R's up & start sucking in a lot of air & the IAT comes down & plenty fast.
I also did a little ram air thing on my Camaro that seemed to work out pretty well. @ least I could see it working there on the data log. Data is 8)
