I have a '66 nova with a small block that has run a best of 8.92 @ 154 with a best 60' of 1.34. The car weighs 3300 pounds with driver and runs 28 X 10 slicks or 28 X 11.5 Hoosier quick time pros. The problem is that I only have 2" of front suspension travel. The car leaves and hooks and when the front end drops out and then stops dropping and pulls the front end down the rear unloads and it spins in a fraction of a second. The car has a bolt on front end with 9" QA1 non adjustable coil overs. We are looking at raising the top shock mount to put longer shocks on it, provided that the geometry works with the tubular A-arms that will allow it to drop more. Does anyone have any ideas what type of shock to stick in there. I will have to notch my inner fender panels and cut and weld new mounts. I don't want to get too crazy.
