tonight the hood fell off the roof of the car and then it cracked the edge of the hood and on th side where the start of the cowl is, it chipped off the gel coat.
How do i fix the crack the correct way and the gel coat?

How deep is the crack? Does it go all the way through or just that you can see it in the gelcoat? A product you can get at autobody supply stores made by Fuser will fix you up. I prefer the "Heat-set" one myself. If the crack is deep, you can taper out the gelcoat & put a layer of plastic drywall tape down while the glue is wet, then sand it & put on more glue to smooth it out. If your hood is cracked all the way through you should put a layer on the bottom also. You can finish blending the repair area by using regular body filler or finishing putty over the Fuser glue. Just be sure not to have any fiberglass opened without gelcoat or the finishing putty over it. Any other questions, Just ask, Lorne
