I recently aquired a 351w .030 with stock crank.
I'm gonna need pistons and rods to complete the short block.
Is it worth it to just go up in cubes and get a stroker crank in the process.
This will be used in a 2900lb stock suspension mustang on BFG Drag Radials 275/60's. The car is raced in a local index heads up series.
Most likley i'll go with a Victor Jr. Intake. I have set up of Canfield heads that i'm already using on a 302. The trans is a C4 manual vb ,9" 3500 convertor with a 3.73 gear. I'm looking to do this pretty much low buck, cast crank ,Eagle I beam rods and some type of forged piston.

Any suggestions would be appreciated ..
Thanks

I really like the 393W package. Stock 351W rods, stock 302 piston and a 250.00 cast crankshaft and you're off. And yes, with GOOD induction, the extra cubes do work.

I sold a cam and a pair of Canfields recently to a younger fellow from Georgia. He was doing a 393 s/b. A tight lash solid roller, about 12.5:1 with a flat top and a 54cc head, port matches Super Victor, HP 1000 carb, 1 3/4 MAC headers. Nothing fancy. Its is a stock suspension 3000# sled and it ran 10.20's at 133 first night out. Convertor was too tiight and it was over geared. He is putting the car on a small diet, new convertor, a slightly taller tire and it'll runs 9's with unported Canfields.

Not bad for a budget build!
