Where is it mostly likely that a '98 LS1 will leak from the rear of the engine?? And where from in the front??

Oil pan to rear cover or front cover in the little corner areas. Not common though. Or if you don't get the front/rear covers centered on the crank, the seals can leak.

Hey 68Bird, how much doesn your car weigh?
If its an OE assembly it tends to be the rear main seal in the rear cover. If its an aftermarket assembly it tends to leak at the four corner of the pan, at the parting line where the covers meet the block. You need to use the GM or any teflon paste to seal those spots and make sure its centered.
