Turbo car staging with a automatic trans?

There is probably a point in time where this question has crossed everyones mind.
What is involved in staging these cars. Are these guys bouncing these cars into the beams by locking the trans brake spooling the turbo and letting off and quickly re ingauging the trans brake? Just has always been a question in my head and how much abuse does the trans take during staging?

The abuse is somewhat dependant on the time it takes to stage and spool. The longer it takes the more heat you build up. I have dual calipers on my rear brakes so I can use the brakes to hold the car when it's spooling up in the prestage beams.
