I was wondering, how bad will it kill the performance of a motor by not having equal length header tubes. Motor is a 355 sbc, 12.0-1 compression, world products 200cc aluminum heads with a comp cams .532/.555 lift, 250/260 duration at .050. Car is a 41 chevy coupe, no one makes a header for it accept patriot, and the tubes very from 19'' to 29 '' long. Cant afford custom headers right now. Any thoughts?

It's not going to kill it.... I wouldn't worry about it myself especially if you can't afford it... it is what it is.

I have a customer that is a superstock engine builder as well as chassis builder. for what it is worth on one of his small blocks the difference from the "perfect" dyno headers to a set that fit the car with very mismatched tubes (ranging from 15-38") on one side was about 5 HP overall. so it was not a great big difference. headers are usually tuned to work best a rpm band that is fairly narrow anyhow. diameter is way more important than length. too small causes restriction, too big cause turbulance and flow loss.
