I need advise on how to get rust particles off my TA. The paint is about 8 months old. I was building headers in the garage and took no notice off the metal particles fliying about . Now I have small rust speks all over the car.

The particles just laid on the paint surface and the car was rained on ...Any advise.

rubbing compound, thats if you didn't burn the paint with the particles. if that happened it will need to be sanded and rubed.

Might try a clay bar.

Try the clay if nothing else it will pick up any particals without scratching too much. Depending id the steel was hot you may have to wet sand with 1500 or 2000 before rubbing. My wifes white Ferraro got industrial fall out. it all came out. If the sparks was hot, check glass. That could get pricey. You will only see it on a sunny day from the inside.

Thanks for the advise guys. The metal was not hot. This was metal particles that the wind blew out of the garage floor and onto the car. Shortly there after the car was rained on quite a few times before i noticed what had occured.

I will hit it with the clay bar.

clay bar will get it off, they are recommended for rail dust , sounds like the same thing, You still mak have to polish the car with a compound later, MMM06070 is a great produt for this, its really not a compound but will work good

Just and update. The rust speckles came off with the clay bar. I just used the readily available Maguires stuff. I then used some cleaner wax and BAM..Looks great. Some areas needed extra work , but over all it was easy.
Thanks for everyones advise.
BTW this is was done on a 1989 20th Aniversary Indy 500 Turbo Trans Am. I did some what of a restoration of this car. It is one of 1555. I found it stored under an oak tree in on the east coast of Florida. The one and single owner was 76 years old.

Yes thats the one. Ive had several Turbo Regals, the below GN and a White T Type. The TTA is much neatter that those 2. It has the Buick power and great handeling..in comparison to the Regals.
