well first is it the gel coat or the actual fiberglass that is cracking? If its the fiberglass you need to grind out as much of the cracks as you can to leave a valley to use a fiberglass filler.

you can use this as a filler and if its around the edges of the hood this would be your best bet as the edges will be easier to clean up and make them stronger.

3M Automix EZ Sand Rigid Parts Repair #05883

or for small imperfections you can use,

3M polyester finishing putty # 05819

I have some spider webbing of the gelcoat on one spot of my hood, can i just sand it out or do I also need to put a product on top of the sanded area?

when dealing with the gel coat,i sand out the cracks then use a high build primer to get the surface back up.only if you don't go to deep,if its thick gel coat use filler then high build primer for finish work.

If it is the gelcoat, you need to make sure you grind out past the end of the crack, or it will keep travelling.

Yep.
Also you can drill a pin hole at each end to stop it from going further.
My harwood was beat to death from falling off the roof of the car in the pits, on the hoist ect.

Also instead of fiberglass for repairs I use a product Ill have to look at the can at the shop.
Its 2000 times stronger than fiberglass and very easy to work with.
Its not cheap but great stuff.
I had fiberglass doors on my old car and the hinges let go from someone leaning on them.
Repaired with this stuff and good to go.

Ill check it out tomorrow.

Kevlar is what I fixed mine with.
I did body and paint for some time right after school.
Its what I went to school for , but due to health had to give it up.
