My brother is building an 02 ZO6 Vette for road racing.He wants to use the stock short block and heads and reprogam the factory computer if possible.He has a goal of 500hp.He has 1 3/4 LG headers and x-pipe.What do you gentlemen recomend for the rest of the motor? Is there any problem areas that need to be addressed.

500 rwhp or 500 flywheel?

Those cars make around around 370 rwhp with a airbox and tune, around 380 with headers. A set of AFR's, A healthy cam, underdrive pulley, Fast 90/90 , EWP and you can get up to 480 rwhp.

I looking at a Patroit cam with 232in. 230ex. dur. .580lift 110lc COMP 26915 springs(105 seat pressure) .Will the stock non adjustable vavle trian work?The head gasket is a 3.970 bore .050 thick mls can I get a .040 thick in the same bore?Can the head bolts be reused?I am going to have the stock heads ported.

I wouldn't waste a dime on having the stock heads ported, I would pass on that cam as well. A LG G5X3, with exhaust, underdrive consistentaly makes around 430 rwhp-if you want soemthing a tad smaller an off the shelf comp 228/230 works well too.

I agree, at the minimum go Patriot CNC or just do yourself a favor and go with some small chamber AFR's... Also the 105 on the seat is not nearly enough for road race. Stock headbolts cannot be re-used, you'll want some ARP ones.

I'm going with a comp xer281hr-12 and recommened springs and pushrods,gm racing lifters,.040 cometic gasket.The shop that sponsors me on my other racing does alot of porting (and agood job to) so I send them all the buisness I can.

Just got a call from my brother. It made 443rwhp.He road races in a club and his arch rival has 410rwhp so he's real happy.
