i posted a week ago on both suspension forums and never did get a response. i met a local SCCA racer who owns scales, and he has offered to scale my mustang for me for free. from my "rudimentary" scalings at the local truck weigh scales, i've come up with 53.5% ft and 46.5% rear weight. the car goes pretty consistent 1.60 60ft now, and runs 7.28-30 at 95.5mph. from the mph, it seems like it should go 1.55's or something like that. i've spoken to travis at caltrac for bar and shock adjustments, but haven't gotten any advice on weights. is there an "ideal" distribution i should be shooting for? seems like i have a good opportunity with this scale thing, but i don't wanna waste his time if i don't know what i'm after. thanks for hearing me out, and for any advice you can offer. If you're going consistent 60's, and no tire spin, then you're not really going to pick up anything by moving weight around. The ideal split is whatever will get the power to the ground without spinning.

that's the thing...it IS rolling the tires over. it picks the front tires out of the beams (ft rims are still when the car leaves) but then seems to unload the tires and sets the front end right back down and starts rolling the tires. travis said to start firming up the extention (separation) of the shocks till it quits. seems like if i had more weight out back it might hold the front end up longer and stay hooked. would lowering the caltrac bars to the lower hole do anything to help by picking up more of the car on the launch? i just KNOW it would go 7.ohs if i could fix this problem, then i can lean on the system :)

I think there's 2 different ways to skin this. Try stiffening the extension to take out some of the hit. If that doesn't work, you could take some hit out by moving the Cal Tracs, but you usually need a good chunk of power to keep the rear tire digging. what chassis/shock/power combo are we working on?

my car is a 68 mustang fastback, 3300lbs w/dr... stock multi-leaf springs (ok'd by John Calvert) rancho 9 way adjustable shocks, and Caltrac bars (upper hole, 1/4 turn preload). front has moroso coils and carrera 90/10s (again rec'd by Calvert). motor is a 302BOSS that dyno'ed at 470rwhp and 415rwtq. 4 speed toploader, 9" rear with 5.13s and strange spool. this is not a dedicated racecar...i drive this car to work on fridays. hoosier quicktime pros, 29x11.5 (rec'd by Calvert). picked up some 60ft after going to innertubes and rimscrews. if i left anything out, let me know. thanks for your help, Nosman.
