View Full Version : front end travel
On a 84' firebird, how much travel is needed? What type of pinion angle are you guys running? Having a problem on keeping the car from wheel standing.

A GUY I KNOW WITH A 3RD GEN CAMARO SAID HE RUNS 0 DEGREES PINION ANGLE AND HE USED CHAINS TO LIMIT THE FRONT END TRAVEL.THE AMOUNT OF TRAVEL NEEDED DIFFERS FROM CAR TO CAR. START WITH ALMOST NONE AND GRADUALLY ALLOW MORE UNTIL YOU GET THE DESIRED AMOUNT OF FRONT END LIFT WHERE IT STILL HOOKS.BUT ISNT STANDING IT UP.TOO LITTLE WILL UNLOAD THE SUSPENSION SO SHOULDNT STAND UP.

i run -1.5 on my rod ended suspension setup, should be around 0 when launching, if you set it to 0 it will end up positive under force.
Isn't pinion angle set 2 degrees negative from the angle of the motor plate about average?

Right, Even witha heim jointed rear end you can expect several degrees of movement.
