Both are f/glass,Hood is full flat.
Am I correct in thie approach of cutting the hood around the scoop so that the two a "butted'' edge to edge and then bridge the seam w/ mat and resin?
Is there a better approach?
Thanks in advance.

Gary,
Everybody does it a little different. I would not but it together for it will make it too flimsy to work with. I would trim the scoop right up to the start of the curve on the sides "makes for less bodywork". Rough up both sufaces, lay glass strips with resin down, place scoop on top, glass and resin strips over that. Let dry, grind down a bit then finish with body filler, prime, block, prime, block and block and block.... It is also a good idea to glass from both sides of the hood when possible. Have fun!

my suggestion would be to cut the hood and attach the scoop from the underside. have both pieces overlap underneath and bond them there. then do your finish work on the outside. it will save you alot of time and create a strong bond around the scoop area

Go to your ppg dealer and get some 3M automix number 8115 and use that the adhier the scoop to the hood, glue both sides and screw in place. It will air dry in 24 hours(or less) take the screws out, then you can do your fiberglass/body plastic work. We use this stuff to glue quater panels on at work, we use it on very high end cars and guarentee it for life!!

well there is an easy way depending on the look your going for
i used snowmobile track screws to bolt the scoop to the hood <they have a flat top 1/2 inch head on them> and used the 1/4 inch round volkswagon fender welt around the edge.
