Hutch, I ran into something interesting when I converted to a T400. After I'd crank the car up(with a new engine also), it'd idle for about 1 minute and then develop a gawdawful squealing. It appears it took out the thrust. Built a new engine and decided to pull the bolt together converter apart and check it out. It appears that the input shaft of the 400 has gotten into the inner bore of the snout of the cover. Measuring the inner bore of the snout(ahead of the bushing), it measures at .980 while the input measures out at .985. Should that inner bore be larger then the input shaft? I would think it would. Possibly that maching process just got missed? Is it normal for the input to ride that deep past the bushing? Just curious. I went ahead and chucked the cover up in a mill and opened it up .020 to give clearance to the input. Never had this issue with this converter with the glide. Thanks.

Not sure why its so small but the input shafts don't usually go too far past the end on the turbine cover spline. The converter should have an internal distance from the pump drive hub to the back cover(inside the crank pilot) of approx 6.100"
There is no problem opening that up like you did.The 400 and glide share very similar input shaft/stator shaft length measurements but your 400 must be a little different.

Thanks Hutch. It only got into the top .100 of the snout ID. I talked to the manufacturer and he said they must have missed the final machining of that. Of course, I of all people who have blown everything sky high over the last 4 years get's the one someone forgot to finish! hahaha
