View Full Version : Can the moral fiber of our leaders get any lower?

Jesse Jackson added former Chicago Democrat Congressman Mel Reynolds to
Rainbow/PUSH Coalition's payroll. Reynolds was among the 176 criminals
excused in President Clinton's last-minute forgiveness spree. Reynolds
received a commutation of his six-and-a-half-year federal sentence for 15
convictions of wire fraud, bank fraud, and lies to the Federal Election
Commission. He is more notorious, however, for concurrently serving five
years for sleeping with an underage campaign volunteer.
This is a first in American politics: An ex-congressman who had sex with a
subordinate...won clemency from a president who had sex with a
subordinate...then was hired by a clergyman who had sex with a subordinate!
His new job?
Ready for this??

How fucked up have we become that our politicians can dostuff like this? And accroding to Snopes, it's true. This is kinda old news, so George probably remembers it........:p

Dave, it just shows us how fucked up things really are. Robin Williams couldn't come up with stuff any funnier. And you know as well as I do that it's just as corrupt and screwed up on the Republican side as on the Democratic side. (I know you know it, but it's tough for you to let go and admit it, LOL).
I have been watching political corruption from the day I first voted in a presidential election (1960, Kennedy vs. Nixon) when I turned 21.

So Jim, are you saying that there is "corrupt" and then there is "very corrupt", LOL? That's like trying to define the difference between "pregnant" and "very pregnant", isn't it?

That is exactly what I'm trying to say, kinda, almost, sorta , maybe I think, yeah thats it. Thanks for the help with that.

Some cat flips ya the bird, ya knock his teeth out. Hit an old lady over the head for her last 5 bucks, both crimes, which is worse.

"pregnant" is what your girlfriend is the day she tells you. "very pregnant" is when she starts to show enough that her dad finds out.

10-4 Greg, now I get it, thank you. And to take it a step further, "corrupt" is what a politition is. "Very corrupt" is what a politition is when he gets elected to public office.

I don't have any problem admitting it, George. Our political system is in the shit tank right now and both parties are to blame. Neither gives a shit about the people any more.....just making money for themselves and their friends.
The day you first voted?.....wasn't that for Washington? ;)

Didn't vote for GW, Dave, I was only 16 at the time.
You made me think about the guys I did vote for in the past however. Kennedy, Goldwater, Reagan, Clinton, I think that that might be it. I refused to vote in the other elections if I recall. I couldn't let myself vote for Nixon or Carter or either Bush or any of the other yahoos that might have been running, can't even remember their names, LOL. I am a registered Republican, always have been. The first presidential election I ever really got interested in was Eisenhower vs. Stevenson. I remember getting in trouble in school for wearing an "I Like Ike" button.
