I'm 100% new to this so I got alot of questions.

The cars a 95 Mustang with a stock factory fiberglass hood. I have a fiberglass VFN 3.5" cowl scoop that i'm gonna put on my stock hood. What do you use to glue/bond the scoop to the hood? VFN mentioned something by 3M I believe they called Fuse. Is this the correct product? Is there something better?

Also does the paint need to be removed where the hood and scoop glue together or not?

Will I need to smooth out the flange where it will contact the hood or should I just remove any minor high spots and leave it as is to give the glue added area to grab onto?

Any recommendations will be great. I'm new to thsi so theres probably alot of questions I need to ask but dont know the difference so give me all you got.

Thanks,
Brian

stuff is called fusor they make some adhesive specifically for fibreglass to fibreglass.definetely grind the paint off your attachment area probably go with an 80 grit grinding disc not a da use a grinder.i would leave as much flange as possible but get it a flat as possible also.

Is that a 3m product or soemone elses stuff? I'll probably end up sanding the whole damn thing by hand. I'm a gluton for punishment.

Thanks,
Brian

A few companies make the stuff.its called panel bonding adhesive. if its a stock hood on your stang.its not fiberglass..its SMC.sheet molded compound.as long as both mating sirfaces are clean and roughed up good the adhesive should hold.they do sell adhesive just for SMC also.

Hello
If this is just fiberglass to fiberglass, you can use a panel adhesive called Vette Bond which is made by Evercoat and readily available in auto parts stores
It is strong and can be used as a bodyfiller as well
Later vettes that got away from regular fiberglass use a 2 part epoxy system to glue the panels together. It won't come apart without tearing up the fiberglass
I only used Vette bond on mine, never the 2 part, but mine is just fiberglass
take care
Tom
On mine, I vette bonded it then used fiberglass matte/resin then vette bonded as a bodyfiller. Make sure all of the air is out of the glass, otherwise it will come back to haunt you on a hot summer day

ford made a factory fibreglass hood for the mustang not sure what years but have worked on a couple that were fibreglass.
