so i was building a 408 with a stock block. now i have a bow tie block and i'm thinking of going more cubic inches. should i even worry about going more then 408? i don't have any ci restrictions or anything.
the guy i bought the block from builds a lot of 15* and 18* sbc stuff and he suggested something like a 3.8xx stroke and 4.125 bore for 415 ci with 18* heads in a heavy car.
whats your opinions?

Well, I'm running a 421 with standard port 23* heads, and I wouldn't do it again.

But if you are going to an 18 or 15 then kool.

Now, the motor I got my 18s off of, did 704 HP, with an average of 688 i think.

They went to all the trouble of fitting a set of the dart 15s and only made 743 Hp and an average of 695 or something like that.

So for the extra 3500+ they spent, I wasn't impressed.

That was a 434.
