Could someone tell me what psi any of you that use or used a big shot plate used. I use a single stage at 6 psi and find it rich, jets are 96 fuel 86 nos. Was just wondering if anybody goes under 6psi........Thanxs.

I have always ran 6- 6.5 on my big shot plate. Make sure you flow the fuel side at 6 or 6.5 with a 70 pill then just install the 96 pill and run it. Is the car rich when ran on motor?

Ya the car is a little on the rich side. I have always flowed the system with the pill i was using ex i would flow it with the 96 pill. I know this is an area that peolpe have argued before but i blew part of the crown off a piston and it seems it was because of a rich mixture. so i was wondering if some of you guys were going as low as 5.5 or lower on the fuel side.

It will be Pig Rich @ 6lbs with a 96 jet for sure.... my friend ran a Big shot plate for 2 years with the 325 tune up @ .102n2o .110 fuel @ 6p.s.i. with no problems and no hurt parts. I use a 73 NOS jet to flow all hp settings. It was a shade on the the rich side.....

i have always flowed mine with the fuel jet that i was using in the tuneup... i run a big shot plate at 120/116 and run 5psi. seems to work good for me, 6 psi is way too rich... i have run the 325 tune 102/110 at as little as 4.5 and it ran good.

Matt, how much do you retatd at you 120/116 level. Better question is what is your total timing at the 120/116. What hp tune is that? Little brother is running Newport tonight in 67 Rag top. Our yellow 69 lost the ring gear off the J&W "The Wheel" flexplate. We still waiting on replacement.l

.120/.116 is roughly 350 h.p. :)

I have not liked the idea of going down low on the fuel pres, so I simply square the jets, run 6.5 - 7 psi fuel pressure and it is pretty good. Have been told by a few guys that this works great.

That's wild!!!! Was it lean at all???? Is it jetted rich on the mtr? I'm going up to the 350 jetting you mention, but was a little scared of it, sounds like you have done well with it.

Do you flow the system with the jet you are using or a smaller jet?

Have not flowed the system. In terms of small of big jets, I jet up or down on whatever jet to get to square or close to it. Used to just put smaller fuel jets in, but then I started playing around with bigger nos jets than the baseline stuff and leave the fuel jet alone. So, it just depends on what hp level I'm after. Still.....going square on the jetting with 7 psi flowing fuel pressure seems to be a good tune up for a lot of guys! HOWEVER - do not just jump a huge step to a square jet tune up, take baby steps and read plugs!!!!!!!!

well not TOO lean LOL, it's pretty mean though... not much room for error but that's what i have to do to run with these boys here on D/R's. the motor is not jetted overly rich. the 120/116 tune is a mean one for sure, as far as "stock" plates go it's pretty salty... hey mooreboys what's been going on at the 'port??? hate it that the 69 is down, i run 42* on the motor and when the 120/116 shot comes in i pull out 12*.... NOS calls 120/116 tune up a "350+" shot but on my chassis guys engine dyno it netted me 390 extra RWHP.

The higher the fuel psi the better....try to get in the habit of tuning with the jet, not the psi. Think of any fluctuation as a percentage of change. The higher your psi to start with, the less the percentage of fluctuation you'll experience. Your psi is never staying where you set it all the way down the track....unless you've already dedicated time to resolving this issue.... :-D
