ok i've told my combo a bunch of times...but here we go again
408 ci
13.5:1
18*
i had a stock block with splayed caps and stuff but i'm scared to spray a .040 stock block. i got a killer deal on a brand new bow tie block with billet caps. what are some good things to do so it can handle a lot of spray? not sure if my cam is the best to use spraying a lot(i know this is the wrong section to ask) but here is some specs .753 .691 w/1.6 rr
dur. @.050 281*in 292* ex
113 lsa
so i will probably be limited to a smaller shot. but i want my block to last.

right on. so no filling it with hard block or anything?
i'm thinking i might as well go aluminum rods also.

Aluminum rods are a good choice for a nitrous motor. & no I would not worry about hard blocking it. if the block is solid, then let'er rip. If your real concerned, sell it & get a little M or something. for a little more you could get an aftermarket block almost all ready to rock & not have to worry about it again.
are you running a fogger or plate?

heven't decided yet. this is what i WANT
fogger with 2-bottles in passenger seat area
~300 ish hp shot
some sort of progressive controller
pressure switch
window switch
all the cool "on a budget" computer stuff pretty much
but i'll probably just run a big shot plate and rig it with a button and spray after i'm in 2nd or something....i honestly don't know yet. it all depends on what it'll run NA. my goal is to run a low 9 at ~5000 feet on spray, if that tells you anything.
so how does a bowtie compare to a little M?

I wanna say its betwwen a production block & an aftermarket block. IAMA, its stronger but does not have the priority oiling tricks that the aftermarket blocks do.
thats a pretty hefty goal with the weight of the car (3500 Lbs or so right).
300 shot is pretty aggresive. for sure nothing to skimp on.

my other goal is to get it ~3300 lbs
so i can get over 1000hp with a bowtie couldn't you? not saying i'll make that, just wondering

For get the spraying it once your in second gear stuff. You could back it down to 175 and spray it right out of the gate and problably pick up just as much as shooting 300 from second gear out.

I would not recommend a progressive controller, try a timing comtroller first on the launch, they are much easier on the engine imo

i would just shoot 300 off the line if i knew i wouldn't blow the tires off. so i was also thinking of a two stage.
so about the power it can handle? they can handle over 1000hp right?

I have a stock block with no filler in it and I hit 275 out of the gate digi set at 3 tenths with stock susp. and m/t radials hook fine most of the time

sweet dude.
well i got a SCREAMIN deal on the block. paid for it today. i traded some arias pistons and some crower rods and $750 cash for a brand spankin new bow tie block! and billet splayed caps( not installed yet) i've been sitting on the pistons and rods for a long time now and finally got rid of em and got something i needed!
goes to the machine shop next week!
so if anyone needs a rotating assembly and a good 400 block (408 ci .040 bore) splayed etc.... all new except block but fresh machine work, just let me know
FYI this is my 3rd block, 3rd set of pistons and rods, 2nd set of heads and intake, 3rd cam, and my car hasn't ran in two years :( i think i'm finally going to stick with it and build this engine now. just need to decide on cubic inches.... i'll make a new thread about that :-D
