I'll try to keep a long story short. Had a converter failure at the NSCA ATL race. took the trans down and cleaned it up. Installed a different planatary assy. the old one heat damaged and full of metal from a dumb ass mistake last time I built it. the only thing I retained from the original set up was the 34 element sprag (but I did take it apart and clean it. re did all the clutch packs and pump (gears and bushings)
Now, I completly disassembled the valve body to clean it. I hope like hell I put it back right, at this point I don't know.
I got it running and I have a good reverse and 1st gear, no 2nd AT ALL when I put in 3rd it acts like it makes a weak attempt to go into reverse. I believe that's because I have no 2nd
The valve body is an old turbo action pn #24141 full manual reverse pattern.
any clues would be appreciated...........I'm too poor to have pro build this thing LOL

I think I know what I did wrong   I put the Int. sprag in backwards......I think. Is there any thing else I can check before I tear back into it?

This would have been fine if the car was an Eldo or a Toronado

Rod,if you had it in backwards you would have no 2nd and it would lock in 3rd.
You may have made that mistake.
Im sure you got the VB together correctly.

Take care ,Hutch

Thanks Hutch.......once I was over my little fit of rage I pretty much realized what I had done. Thanks for answering so quickly.
