First time with a vacuum pump. I think I have everything sealed up good, but I question the distributor leaking, there is the O-ring, but is that good enough or do I have to find some kind of a round gasket? Thanks in advance.

If there is an o-ring on the shaft then it should be sealed but I don't know how well it would stay sealed since oil doesn't get to it easily... Some distributors don't have any kind of seal and Signal makes special dist. seals that don't require lube for vacuum conditions.... you can get them from CV products.
What kind of dist??
Are you talking internal distributor seal or are you talking block to dist. seal?
If you're questioning the dist. to block seal, maybe try to find a o-ring with a slightly larger section of material???? Or make your own flat gasket out of gasket material and use both.... that would seal it forsure.... but check your gear mesh.

I was worried about the gear mesh also, if I put a gasket under the flange. It's a MSD billet distributor. The current O-ring in on the diameter. I think the idea of a larger crossection may be the ticket. When I fire it up this week, I'll check to see if it is indeed leaking air around it. I've been told by many that the distributor area is always a problem.
Where do the seals from CV products go?

Dogg, I just use the o-ring seal on mine. I can pull more vaccum than I need to. I have a regulator to regulate the vaccum down.

Internal seal in the distributor around the shaft Brian.... that is also a leak path.
Dude... just ditch the dist. plug the hole, and get a jesel belt drive distributor. Done like dinner!!!
