I am supposed to be the nitrous tuner in our group of racers. I went to the track last night to help a friend of mine with a small system on his car. I have only run Foggers and have no experience with plates.

We followed the NOS jet map for a 150 hit in a big shot kit. I started at 6lbs flowing pressure.....pop pop pop....went back flowed 5.5, same thing....5lbs, same thing...WTF !! pulled 6 degrees total on all runs. Did a plug check....after the 5 lbs and the plug were white.....

Motor Combination
572 Hemi
Stage 5 heads
12.5 to 1 compression
112 octane Sunoco
NGK-8's.....030 (I know they are the wrong plugs) I did not know that is what he had till we got to the track
MSD 7

Any ideas??

Thanks,
John

I did the same thing years ago and had the same problem poping like mad I knew it wasn't the system so we checked the engine and it had four broken springs, the added power just exaggerated the problem, so it might not be the nitrous itself.

We drove 4 hrs. to race and has the same thing happen to us. we had over 150 runs on the same tune up and it drove me crazy. Come to find out our second stage retard module was unplugged and the timing was severly retarded. Got home plugged it back in and never done it again....

Possibly a bad nitrous plunger. Has he taken the plate off recently John?

The plate is brand new and just installed......thinking of taking it off the manifold and flow it into a bucket...

like 8 treez said if your running a 7al make sure the retards your not using are grounded and have a zero chip installed. It would purge in the motor all day long and sound great but wouldnt go down the track.

Double check all your fittings and installation on the plate. MAKE SURE THERE IS NO PLACE FOR AIR TO SEEP BY THE PLATE.

Lol.
Funnjy.
Two different posts from two different members finding someone had installed a plate upside down. Hilarous.

I guess you told them that the holes were supposed to point down. :)
