JUST BOUGHT A 565BBC FROM A FELLA AND WAS WONDERING WHAT FUEL WOULD BE BEST TO USE ? HE SAID THE MOTOR IS 14;9;7.1 ,,AND IT LIKES 36*-38* TIMING ON MOTOR (HE NEVER SPRAYED IT ),,,,, HE SAID HE WAS USING C-12 ON MOTOR,,, JUST WONDERED WHAT WOULD BE GOOD ON MOTOR AND WHAT WOULD BE GOOD ON SPRAY (PROB NO MORE THAN 250 SHOT),,,,,,OR IF THERE IS ONE THAT WOULD BE GOOD FOR BOTH ?,,,,,,,,,,ALSO I HAVE A SEPERATE 1 GALLON
FUEL CELL UP FRONT FOR JUST THE SPRAY

C23. Our 528 is 15.2:1 and we hit it with 650 on one stage. We run the engine at 40 degrees.

would you run a c-16 on compression lower than 13 or stick with c-23 and whats the difference is it a safer fuel

C16 works great for almost any CR. I just decided when we went over 15:1 to use C23. It's 119 octane and it allows me to run allot of timing in the engine. Plus from what i've been seeing it isn't much more than C16 in cost.

Not with nitrous.

i have a 526 ci pontiac engine that never runs without the nitrous. it has two speedtech stand-up kits on a cast manifold with 13.2-1. i have been running c-16 all year with no problems, however i got a jug from the shop that had c-23 in it by mistake and ran it testing on saturday. the car slowed from running mid 5.30's on a 28-32 one kit hit to the mid 40's and was off 2-3mph. i kept putting in timing until i got it to run a 5.36 @ 133. there was still no timing mark anywhere on the plug.
would it be better to go back to the c-16 or stay with the c-23 and just keep putting in more timing. cost of the fuel is not important but engine longivity is.

Yes go back to C16. You don't have enough compression for C23.

For the original question. You could run C16 all the time in the 565. It will be a bit slower on motor, but should rock on spray. If you are going to do mostly all motor racing, then stick with the C12.
C23 is the fuel that is recommended for 2 or more kits and a bunch of compression. One reason the car may have slowed is the gravity of C16 and C23 are way different. You actually should have went leaner by pouring in the C23 because it is lighter. I would agree with NOS Nelson and say you should go back to the C16.
Thanks,

thanks guys, my drum of c-16 was empty and i needed to reorder so now would have been the time to switch. i'm going to pick up another drum of c-16 this weekend.
