Yes they are compatible.
There are many parts made with both.

You usually can get away with it in a pinch, epoxy is stronger and the repair will last longer, That is of course if the original is epoxy and not just polyester resin. You can get small amounts of west system epoxy at most marine places.

There is a glue that the carbon guys use called methacrylate , its harder than woodpecker lips and works well on cracks. There's 2 carbon fiber guys right here near London if you need some stuff im sure they would help you out.

Agreed.
I am a composite tooling engineer. There are many methacrylate epoxies. For cracks on say interiors, valve covers, tanks, etc made of carbon fiber it's the best way to repair the problem. The most common used in racing is "Plexus" brand. It can be purchased from RJ racecars. I use the stuff at work for anything. These kind of advanced epoxies are used for bonding many critical parts of modern planes and helicopters together.

no 33 carbon resin and fiberglass resins are totaly different and will not bond properly.
if the carbon is layed up with a vynlester then you have to use a vynlester resin
polyester resin is totlay different properties poly cures very hard where vynlester cures somewhat soft and stays felexable
its kinda like trying to fix smc front ends on ford and international trucks with polyester it looks like its bonded but in time will fall off .
if you would like more information pm me you number and i will tell you how to fix it and where to purchase the material to fix it right
thanks west coast composties

it probably better to glue it together then to try to lay it up it all depends on how much down time you have.
i build molds and parts from carbon and fiberglass and also do repairs on both products...
