I've read several good posts about reading plugs lately. Thanks Monte and Mike. The pics make all the difference in putting the info to practical use. I still have a few questions though. How does the heat range of the spark plug affect the tune-up? If the plug is too hot or cold how does it affect the look of the plug? Does anyone have pics of a plug that has the wrong heat range vs. the correct heat range with same tune-up?

Cold plugs will show no heat in the plug whatsoever. Also the motor will load up while running on motor within a shot time period. We usually use a baseline sparkplug for the motor and go one step colder plug every 100 HP of nitrous. A hot plug will show blueing or even melt under the least extreem conditions.. You are always better of erroring to a cold plug than a hot plug...
