well heres the thing.. me and my father have come to the conclusion that our current block is cracked.. we changed the head gaskets 3 times, resealed the heads studs twice, sealed everything else and the damn thing keeps leaking water into the oil..
so my ?? is with a new block, should we get new rings?? rings have about 2500 miles on them.. if i need new ones, any recommendations?? its a 4.040" bore, 385 sbc.. street/strip gonna be around 11.3:1 with the new block.. ring grooves: 1/16; 1/16; 3/16.. 92 pump gas, NO nitrous..
thanks

For the Price Of Rings It Shouldn't even be a Question

Your guessing the block is leaking right. You could have it pressure checked or build your own with the engine out using your heads etc. (could even just pull the pan and pressurize the cooling system, before buying the new block) Throw some dye in there and check around with a black light.
I will tell you this, I had a NEW edelbrock intake leak inside the engine. Just the slightest porosity and drip .. Drip. Into the lifter valley. No fun finding that one. Point being there are other places water could get in there.
Hate to see ya' spend $$$ if not needed.
