TH400 build options

Have an ATI Competition TH400. They explain it as

Fully blueprinted and equipped with high flow lube circuits, increased torque capacity and hard chrome oil rings. Sprags replaced with heavy duty units. Clutch packs are assembled for individual applications.
Compu-Flow valve body standard.

This was built for a mildly blown 454 (700hp). We've since stepped up w/ twin 71mm turbo's on a 548. It put down 936hp through a loose 10". We had Bradco build a new 10" for this combination. We're getting ready to perform a complete service and will be adding a Pro-Tree brake as well. Any suggestions?

W/That kind of wieght ,power & the addition of a tighter 10" converter I would suggest upgrading the input shaft/drum , input/forward hub to steel & possibly even an intermediate shaft as well.

A good pro-brake w/no corners cut rebuild.Inspect the interm. sprag for flat spots & chatter marks on both inner & outer races.It is always a good idea to start w/ new low roller clutch & new 34 element interm. sprag

Make sure that all bearings & bushings are new or in like new condition.Also the use of teflon rings is a must.

The pump is where you need to make sure all is well w/gears & both pump halfs.

This combo should need 190 PSI to work well.

You have what sounds like a nice trans for what it was originally built for. You now have a engine combination that is in a very heavy car and will be a challenge for any transmission.

Your best to keep that trans for another application because you will have to make so many changes to it ,the only parts you will save will be the case and oil pan.

Tuff guy left a pretty good list of parts and that is accurate at minimum.
