Hey Michael!
Jeff here, spoke with you last week with my Pro Street 72 Nova wiring questions. I believe it was Saturday, you answered the phone. Just wanted to say thanks for the tips. Appreciate you taking the time with me.
I did as you recommended and put a remote starter solenoid in the trunk with the batteries, from the Master Kill wired up to this solenoid, then to the starter.. so only hot during cranking. Great recommendation.
For a summary others may benefit from?:
I used 1/0 welding cable 600v for most all the wiring. I ran the trigger wire 12gauge cu. from the Master Kill switch (single throw, double pole - Moroso Super Duty kit for alternator kill) up to a continuous duty solenoid on the firewall. This trigger provides the 12v to close this solenoid allowing the alternator to charge the system. (This wire attached to one of the small post on this solenoid, other small post goes to ground). On the bigger terminals, 1 gauge copper feeds the single wire alternator, the other side is the feed / charge wire back to the load side of the Master Kill switch (big terminal).. used #2 copper 600v welding cable for the charge wire. From the batteries a 1/0 cu. bolts to the frame for a solid ground. I used the "line side" of the continuous duty solenoid up front to feed my painless switch panel (panel feeds fuel pump, fans, water pump, ignition and electronics).. ALL are fused accordingly and wired with relays.
I don't have the motor in yet.. but when I flip the disconnect switch - all seems to open / close.. juice-up like it should.
This is a great way to wire up your pro - streeter! Again, appreciate your info / recommendations Michael. Hopefully others can use this too.
Thanks and take care! :)
