Anybody have any expierence with these?
How well do these work out of the box?
Do they need any special attention anywhere?
Any flow numbers above .700?
I am putting together a 572 with 14 to 1 compression,Sniper Profiler intake, using these heads, cam to be determined. I am going to be putting this in a 3400 # stock suspenison 78 Malibu.
Thanks for any info. Ben

We're firing mine up this week. But out of the box they flowed 400! I was very happy with that! The only thing was they were a little dirty in the runners, so I'd take the time if you buy them assembled to pull them apart and clean them. The quality of the castings is very good. Performance wise, it will be a week or two before I can say anything.

Thanks Kelly. Are you just using yours out of the box? Good luck! Let me know what you think after you get it runnin'. Mine will be awhile yet.

Yeah straight out of the box...the budget could barely stand that, much less port work!:)

Hey guys.. we ran these a pair or 360 on our 548 last yr with 12-1 motor 760 lift cam in a 3400 lb car it went 8.49 @161 ...
ours flowed out of box 405 @700 and 407 @800 and 409 up to 900
we sent them out to be redone for our new motor ..carefull around push rod area a little thin ... with minor porting the flow440's now

Thanks for the info HALFBREED.I did notice the push rod area as well. That is what made me wonder how much could be done with them. You say "minor porting" I'm curious as to what is it that you did? Like gasket matching? Blending?Any special attention anywhere?Did you do anything on the exhaust side?
Thanks Ben

thers alot of casting flash in the runners .... the exh side was raised 1/8 inch intake were basicly cleaned and minor straighting... and gasket matched.... we could went way more but I have small cube bbc .... like i side they worked great out of the box on our 548ci 12-1 motor... it only spun to 6800-7000...
they do put chezzy guides in them I had to replace all of them ....after 30 runs and 2500 street miles........
they are good bang for the buck i think!!!!! I know a few nmca, and osca racers have these heads and are going very fast .....
