I have an XD .40 Sub Compact model. Nice gun. Great shooter, accurate as all get out never jammed yet.

A sweet plinking gun is a Makarov 9x18. I have a bulgarian version with some 'mods'.... pretty sweet gun for 100 bucks.

I'm looking into the XD 45. They look like nice guns.

I've worked on and shot a few Makarovs, and they're a reliable and good shooting gun for what they are. Don't ever shoot 380 ammo through it no matter what anyone tells you though.

LOL yeah..... they do make a .380 conversion for them.

for my job we carry the springfeild xd9 it is a good shooting gun,but we have had jam problems with this gun during range time. The only other problem we have had with them is the finish seems to not be good, but in springfeilds defence they have refinished the guns for us and they seem to be holding up.Chad

LOL yeah..... they do make a .380 conversion for them.Yes, and it's fairly popular so you can shoot cheaper more readily available ammo. The 9x18 Makarov that was given to me to fix, the slide would only go back 1/4" or so. To make a long story short, the barrel was bulged out within the slide. I looked in his magazine which he included with the gun, and there was 380's in it. The 380 is a slightly smaller round (bullet diameter also) than the 9x18, and appears to fit quite well in both the magazine and chamber. Apparently a bullet got lodged in the barrel (due to it's slopppy fit) and he fired another round on top of it. He's pretty lucky he didn't blow the thing up in his hand.

I have a couple Springfield XD40 calibers, the sub compact model as well and I've had good luck with them. However, I did have to send one of them into Springfield to have the loading ramp polished as I was having jamming issues as well. They had the gun for a very minimal amount of time and it's worked perfectly ever since.

Great guns.
