Guys and gals we are going to take it in shorts over this Va Tech shooting rampage.
Stand by for the snow ball effect.
Yep, especially since there is a new weapons bill similar to the clinton bill that would outlaw just about ANYTHING semi-auto.
But no one looks at the other side, how many lives could have been saved if just one of those students or a guard had been armed???????

Creating more "gun laws" has no bearing on these kinds of shootings. It's just another law, and gun owners are not law breakers anyway. Gun owners are not the problem. It's the idiots that break the law that are the problem.

guns dont kill people... its an object. it takes a dumbass to pick up the gun and use it in a maliicious way..
US honest owners always pay the price of some idiot.. we dont break the laws... we might not agree with the laws but abide by them...
laws do nothing to prevent something like this from happening... just makes it harder to defend ourselves.
just part of my take

Although, much can't be done about the estimated 300 million firearms that could possibly exist in America. I think valid arguments will be made that access restrictive laws such as no more mail order ammo or magazine purchases, requiring background checks for all firearms related purchases, even banning handgun sales all together could have possibly reduced the number of casualties.
Unforunately, it's a catch 22 situation. For the masses, the general possession of firearms are lawful until a gun crime is committed, it's gun owners that break the law that's the problem. Assuming that he legally obtained and possesed the firearms used, at 7:14 he was a "gun owner", at 7:15 a murderer and at 9:30 a mass murderer. It bothers me that dozens of people had no way or means to control their fate and had to wait to be executed.
I've had a sick, sinking feeling in my stomach all day and my heart goes to each and every person that was affected by today's events. However, this tragedy shows that you cannot legislate the evil that resides within someones heart.

Very well put...at least he saved everyone the trouble and pain of a trial...if your going to kill yourself at the end why not start with yourself? I just don't see what would posses someone to do something like this...

in columbia the prisoners have guns in prison while the guards do not... good show on the discovery channel or one of them about it.
I just clipped this portion out of a CNN report on the incident:
Governor not ready to talk gun control
Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine said he wasn't interested in arguments about gun control.
"People who want to take this within 24 hours of the event and make it their political hobby horse to ride, I've got nothing but loathing for them," Kaine said at a Tuesday evening news conference.
"To those who want to try to make this into some little crusade, I say: Take that elsewhere. Let this community deal with grieving individuals and be sensitive to those needs."
Kudos to the governor of VA. :smt023
