I don't see it being a problem if you're running a decent electric pump (mallory 140 or equivalent) and I would recommend sumping the tank or running a fuel cell with a sump but it is not entirely neccesary.

I know a guy running a 69 with a 3/8 line and a Holley blue pump. The fuel system aint the greatest but it works. The car put around 480hp to the wheels on a chassis dyno.

i run 3/8 fuel line on a 80 camaro going in the 10's with an aeromotive fuel pump and sump the tank
