Anyone a dealer for Dart products? I'm looking for the extra lifter valley head bolts for a Big M block. I know I could just buy some bolts but would rather get the kit from dart as it has the correct shaped washers/shims that fit the groove in the block.

Dart part #64210240, you can order it from any Dart dealer. Here is link for it on Summit's website:

i had some extra short studs(the ones that are at the bottom of the head) and i used them with 12 point nuts..been doing it for 4 years with no problems.

Thanks for the link. Also are these extra studs required to be torqued? If so, how in the hell do you get a torque wrench on them? Never torqued them before, but was told they should be.

The top end of the stud goes in the head, the bottom goes through a U-shaped boss on the block in the lifter valley, and under the boss the end goes through a small base piece in the kit. Dart calls it a "shoe". It presses against the bottom of the the boss and cinches the assembly tight. You would probably need some sort of open end attachment for your torque wrench to put on the 12 point nuts. I seem to remember they have to be torqued to 70 lbs.? But you better double check that with Dart.

torque to 45..its pulling on the short threads helicoiled into the deck..i just use a 1/2 wrench and tighten them all i can with the small wrench.

i use 3/8" allen bolts and just tighten them up tight with an 8" long allen key.Worked for 3 years now. There is a Snap On short allen socket that fits with a torque wrench.I think the torque for a 3/8 bolt is 45ft lbs...
