i've been having issues deciding which car to drop my engine in. i have a 74 caged and tubbed camaro with 31-18.5-15 DOT and a stock suspension style 92 stang with 10" tires. i have never weighed the camaro but ITS HEAVY! the stang weighed in at 2820lbs with the 5.0 and 5 speed. not sure how fast or how much power i'll make but from comparing other peoples similiar combo's i should see 8's on enough spray. the camaro will not certify for 8's but it is totally done. so i don;t really want to weld more bars in etc... the fox only has suspension mods so far and will get a wolfe 8.50 cage if i decide that route.
so i guess my question is, should i build the fox or camaro? lets say the camaro weighs 500 lbs more then the fox, is that going to be that big of a difference? i build this 20k engine to go fast. from what i gather i'd go faster with the stang. but i need really honest opinions.
we don't hve any heads up classes here just bracket. but i would like to head out of state and do PSCA stuff, which th fox would be able t fit in a class whereas the camaro is back halved.....
i'm losing sleep over this decision so help me out!!!
thanks

Dave it's a no brainer although I like my Camaro's you have to look at it from another standpoint less weight easier on parts go faster .......
I like my 80 Z but that car weighs in @ 3600 empty .With my 68 Camaro I'm hoping I'll lose half a sec on the weight alone .

If you want to go fast, go with the lighter car. Lighter cars are easier on parts too.

those were my thoughts exactly. but half the people i've talked to think the big tire will go faster....which i doubt because of the weight too.

I say go with the Mustang reason 1. It is lighter, 2. I like small tired cars. When someone tells me they go 8's on big 31x17" tires I go big deal. But when someone says I went 8's on a 10"It sounds way more impressive.
