I've had both brands and both types. Depends on the application I guess.

I would get the specs on both. How much GPH they flow and how many amps they pull. I have a meziere pump and it pulls 12-15amps and flows 55GPH. But I'm sure its probably different for your SBC. -Mark

I have the BIG meziere 55 gph pump for my intercooler and a csr (35 gph?) for the motor.

that's what I was wondering on a CSR, if the advertised 35 gph was going to be enough flow?? This is going on a Higher HP N20 small block.. is it possible to go with too much coolant flow and move the coolant too fast through the engine and radiator??

I like the Meziere for any kind of application that needs some volume... like a nitrous, turbo etc....
Honestly, for a nitrous car you're better off just using a mechanical pump. This could start a whole 'nother discussion though.

Like "what water pump does BG run?" :D:D:D
I prefer a GOOD mechanical anytime it is practical. Save the electricity for the other components. Solenoids, ignition, boom box, margarita mixer, etc., You know the essentials in a race car.:D
Otherwise I am a Meziere fan myself.

Aside from gaining a few ponies with an electric pump I think a great benefit is the ability to cool down the between rounds. I carry a spare battery and I can get the car from ~208* down to 130ish in less than 5 mins. I have the pump wired to turn on when the key is turned on (accessories) plus my fan relay can be turned on with the car off as well.
Alot of people are worried about the pump failing and realize it too late. You can wire up a dummy light to light up if the pump fails and the motor lives to race another day. I think Meziere rated my pump to last 3000hrs. Which for a weekend car or strip car that's an eternity.

I bought a cheap proform and love it for street use. My vehicle warms up faster, runs at a more steady temp and never gets close to overheating anymore. The ability to turn the pump on when the motor off is very nice. Also the pump probably barley pulls 5 amps, 7.5 at most with some. I have a 5amp fuse for mine.
You should be paying attention to your guages anyway, so if the pump were to fail, which is unlikely, you'd know something was wrong before it happened.

I just got an remote electric pony pump from the hardware store, couldn't really care less how much water it moves or how much amps it draws. It does keep it cool and it sprays water pretty far when you undo the hose to drain out the rad.

I was told that the meizere is a better pump than the csr that the bearing life is alot longer and the seals in it last longer also.Just a better pump for the money.

Curious who told you this? I've sold MANY of both, but mainly CSI/R. Rarely do we see trouble with either.

I have a customer who keeps forcing me to use a CSR that he's had since the late 90's(CSI).... still going. It's like that pink bunny. I'm hoping if fails soon.
