116 nos gas

i was wondering what the NOS means in the 116 nos gas...is it if you run your car on nitrous? kinda of a dumb question but just wanted to know

I was told it has special additives to help on N2O cars. My buddy with a blower, tried 118 NOS when he ran out of 118
& it actually slowed down a tiny bit. When the 118 straight came in, it ran as usual. Just what I saw, no expert.
