Forecaster Blasts Gore on Global Warming
Hurricane Forecaster Blasts Gore for Oscar-Winning Documentary About Global Warming
//By CAIN BURDEAU
NEW ORLEANS Apr 7, 2007 (AP)— A top hurricane forecaster called Al Gore "a gross alarmist" Friday for making an Oscar-winning documentary about global warming.
"He's one of these guys that preaches the end of the world type of things. I think he's doing a great disservice and he doesn't know what he's talking about," Dr. William Gray said in an interview with The Associated Press at the National Hurricane Conference in New Orleans, where he delivered the closing speech.
A spokeswoman said Gore was on a flight from Washington, D.C., to Nashville Friday; he did not immediately respond to Gray's comments.
Gray, an emeritus professor at the atmospheric science department at Colorado State University, has long railed against the theory that heat-trapping gases generated by human activity are causing the world to warm.
Over the past 24 years, Gray, 77, has become known as America's most reliable hurricane forecaster; recently, his mentee, Philip Klotzbach, has begun doing the bulk of the forecasting work.
Gray's statements came the same day the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change approved a report that concludes the world will face dire consequences to food and water supplies, along with increased flooding and other dramatic weather events, unless nations adapt to climate change.
Rather than global warming, Gray believes a recent uptick in strong hurricanes is part of a multi-decade trend of alternating busy and slow periods related to ocean circulation patterns. Contrary to mainstream thinking, Gray believes ocean temperatures are going to drop in the next five to 10 years.
Gore's documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth," has helped fuel media attention on global warming.

as many experts as you can find on one, you can find for the other, no one has a real grasp on what is happening and they are all theorizing. Its all a bunch of malarkey

No offense Turbo and I'm not in disagreement with you regarding Al Gore or even global warming, but....
There are two reasons why you think that Al Gore is full of shit. First (and we all agree on this), he's a politition which means that he is automatically full of shit. The second reason is that you have been pre-programmed ("I always knew", etc.) to believe that Al Gore is full of shit.
I've said this before, we will always find data (but not necessarily factual data) to back up what we want to believe.

Always worry when a politician talks about a subject of science or other higher education things!!! Al Gore like most well schooled politicians is nothing but a used car salesman. He talks a piece of shit into looking like a piece of gold. I watched the progrqm where he talked about Global warming and if I was to listen and belive his bullshit the earth will be coming to a end in about 30 years because of global warming!!! He did a great job of talking about a subject he knows nothing about I give him credit for that but I would never take anything he says for real. All I can remember about him is his crying like a little bitch about chads in a voting ballet!!

This is where you and I differ Jimmy. I think that we should tax the poor more than we are doing. Better them than me and you, right? I have always felt that the poor are not paying their share. They can't afford a home so they are exempt from the property taxes, they can't buy a new car so they are able to get out of the new car taxes, and because they wind up with those cheap ass 4-cylinder crap cans that don't use up alot of gasoline, they aren't picking up enough of the gasoline taxes either. Those bastards are just not doing their fair share and I'm pissed about it. I think that the only way that we will ever level this taxation stuff out is to raise the percentage for the poor and lower it for the rich. Besides that, the good news is that the poor can't to afford to buy-off any of our elected officials so I think that if we work together, we can float this legislation right on through the sytem. Who's with me on this?

I just cant get over how many people buy into his bs. Yes the earth is warming. It has always had periods of cooling down and warming up way before we ever existed. If it wasnt for global warming we would not exist. It is not our fault.

Doesnt mean much to the fish in Lake Superior. But what it does mean that the water in Laker Erie is warm enough to host Zebra Mussels (been for 20 years). which means the fish dont have to cope as they are going to be gone as they have nothing to eat.
If anyone had listen to Gore he was agreeing with most scientist who feel we are due for an iceage, and the only thing we as humans have done is either accellerated it or or amplified it, nobody quite knows which one yet.
Long before Gore there were people warning about the ice caps in the 70's. Everytihng they said was going to happen, has. Everyone that thought they were full of BS said something else, and it hasnt happened. So I think I am going to side on the side of the tree huggers, because for the MOST part they are the only ones that have said anything that has actually come true. Not everything they say is gospel, but there track record is looking way better than the naysayers.

Hells bells batman, I'm witcha hommie. Why not just line those poor sap suckers up in a row an put a few caps in their asses. It would be more humane then what we're doing to them now. Sending all their low paying manufacturing jobs overseas an what not so they can end up living under bridges an slowly get taxed to death from the repubs that hate working men and women.
All the poor pricks I know including me are just one paycheck from living in the woods or on the street (if your city boy). Lets give the big corps a fucking tax break while they rake in billions an kill the poor suckers since they are poor pieces of shit anyway.

ATLANTA - It may be two weeks into spring, but it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
Cold temperatures in much of the country have those celebrating Easter this weekend swapping out frills, bonnets and sandals for coats, scarves and socks. Baseball fans are huddled in blankets, and instead of spring planting, backyard gardeners are bundling their crops.
The National Weather Service was predicting record lows Sunday for parts of the Southeast and Midwest, and an unseasonably cold weekend for much of the Northeast. Snow was forecast in parts of Ohio, Michigan and New England.

Now if I remember right back in the 70s there was a coming ice age, what happened to that? From what little research I have done the planet warms and cools on a cyclical basis. There have been periods of extreme cold and periods of warming. Has man made an impact? I'm sure we have but I think there is more to it than just us. And from what I have seen lately the Sun is playing a much bigger role than many thought. I do think we need to take steps to protect the enviroment but I don't think we need to wreck our economy or tax backyard barbeques either.

Watched Gores testimony to the Senate the other day. One of the senators ask him to take a pledge for his household not to use any more energy than the average American household does. It would not take effect for a year. Gore went into some bullshit answer. Then the Senator ask him point blank, Will you take this pledge yes or no? Gore went into his BS again. Thats is a big clue that their way of thinking is BS when they cant answer a simple question.

The problem with our "public servants" is that none of then have to live in the same world that we do. Their transportation needs are covered by the government, their health needs, dental needs, everything is coverd for them, by you and me. They get a great salary, they get fees for speaking engagements, they are free to write books that make them big bucks, they get great jobs offered to them when they retire (from government contrators), and then we pay them (and take care of their health costs) for the rest of their worthless lives. The do not live in our world. There is no freakin' way that these bastards can relate to our world.

None of the above, it's cyclical and here's the history for about 700,000 years BBB (before big blocks). Maybe we should forward it to Al.

All three are part of a cycle. First the globe warms, then the ice rthaws, the nth eocean currents get screwed up, then the ice reforms just bigger than it was before the thaw. Then it slowly starts warming up and begins to thaw again.
The only real issue is what impact we are having on the cycle. In Gores video the stats he has dont look great on us. We cannot stop anything, but we might effect it for better or worse. Presently it looks like we are doing it for the worse.

Al's and his buddies agenda is for you and I to give up everything we do. Or pay pay pay. And have to get a permit for this or that. And not to be able to use or do this or that, ie anything that is anticonstitution antifreedom is what he and his cronys stand for. He and his buddies fully qualify for the definition of a "domestic enemy" and we all know that cops and military personel take oaths to rid the country of those sorts.
